How to Develop a Growth Mindset

Is change easy or hard? It seams easy as we think .You just need to be conscious about what we think and how we interpret the situation , and done, we can change our point of view .

In practice, is harder that we can imagine. Think of your fixed mindset as another self, created by you long time ago; and is like a protection shield, there whenever you need it to offer you a refuge from all kind of hard feelings , to hide you and make sure that you will stay were you are and won’t wander on unknown paths anymore.

There is times when you take into account every critic towards you or your work; when you are afraid of the other peoples judgment and you just want to hide from the whole world; when you think you are not good enough, when others a better than you, you can never succeed , you’ll definitely fail, etc, etc.

This is like a black hole , from which , sometimes, you think , will never get out. And, from a while, it starts to hurt, you can’t bear it anymore.

I know it, I still can feel it sometimes, when I’m falling into this hole of no hope, no light, and I think can never find the right way.

But all this is a passing periods, we just need to give us time, to be aware of the state in which we are and try to switch it in the right direction, in one that will only benefit us, that will support our goals and aspiration for a better life.

A growth mindset is the belief that our talents and abilities can be developed through hard work, good strategies, and input from others. Unlike a fixed mindset, which suggests our capabilities are static, a growth mindset thrives on challenge and sees failure not as evidence of unintelligence but as a heartening springboard for growth and for stretching our existing abilities.

And , the first step towards a growth mindset , I would definitely say , is :

1. To embrace your fixed mindset. Because , let’s be honest, we all have it , because we are humans and is in our natures. Our mind is trying to keep us safe, to protect us , and is not letting us so easily to go towards something new, something unknown.

we have to be aware of the fixed mindset triggers. And this could be for example :

  • You want to try some new challenge, and your fixed mindset will get in the way straight away with ” maybe you shouldn’t , you will fail, and everyone will laugh on you, or judge you”.
  • Or when you struggle with something, and she is coming again with ” let it go, do something easier”.
  • How about you encounter someone who is way better than you ? Does it say ” you’ll never be that good? “
  • Or is that time when you fell like you failed big. You lost your job, or a relationship , or a hard worked project. She is always there to tell you that ” you’re not the person you thought you were, and you’ll never be “.

Whenever you recognise this fixed mindset triggers, be aware of them , and don’t let them defy you. The more you become aware of this triggers , the more you can be on the lookout for her arrival, and be able to start educate her into a growth mindset way.
